Day 6 - A Day Spent at Remy

4:00pm Yesterday, Remy had us run the store for the entire day, from opening to closing! She wanted us to see what it was like to work in retail, with just us two working the store! When we were training the other day, Remy gave us a set of keys to the store that we could use. We woke up and caught the 9:30 train into the city. The store opened at 11:00 so it gave us the perfect amount of time to get there early enough to set up for the day's work ahead. First, we unlocked the door, turned on all the lights, and set up the sandwich board outside. Then we refolded all the clothes to look neat and tidy, and rearranged some of the accessories to be in the right place. The weather was hot and sunny, so it was important to keep the air-conditioning turned on, and the music playing to make it a cool and calming environment for customers to enter. Saturdays are normally busy in the store, so between the two of us we were able to keep things moving at a fast and efficient pace while helping all customers that came inside. If people wanted to try things on, we made sure they had the right size of each item, and if not we knew where to grab the right from from the storage area downstairs. There were also lots of tourists coming in, just to get a glimpse of what the infamous Charles Street has to offer! We made great conversations with people coming who had traveled from all over, there was even a couple of ladies from Scotland that came by! When it came time to close, we had made great sales for the day, and had a very rewarding experience overall. It was a long day, not getting home until 8:30pm so in total we spent about 11 hours on the project!
